Our story
Pawnails began as a mobile grooming business with one goal: to provide a calmer, more personalized grooming experience for every dog. As our family of clients continued to grow, so did the dream.
At Pawnails Grooming & Kennels, we offer a caring and thoughtful blend of boarding, daycare, and grooming in an environment designed to feel calm, safe, and welcoming. This is not a traditional kennel. Pawnails was created by a dog owner who understands how deeply our dogs are part of our family and understands how hard it can be to trust someone else with their care.
I started this journey when I was 21 years old with my dad and a single grooming truck. We exceeded all expectations, and I discovered what I was truly destined to do. Now, I’ve opened a shop so I can continue growing the business while balancing these years while my daughter is still young and able to come alongside me while I do the things I love most. Once my daughter is back in school, I plan to bring the trucks back on the road to continue serving my clients wherever they need us.
I also wanted to open a boarding facility because I truly love taking care of dogs, and what’s better than a one-stop shop? If I could become a vet too so my clients could see the same familiar face they know and trust for all of their pet care needs, I would (and honestly, maybe I just might one day lol). Especially for my high-anxiety dogs, it’s comforting to be groomed and boarded by the same people. They don’t have to fear the unknown or being left with strangers.
We specialize in caring for high-anxiety dogs and high-anxiety dog parents because we truly understand it. I treat every dog the way I would want my own treated — with patience, gentleness, and respect. I know too many places have turned grooming and boarding into horror stories for anxious dogs, and that is absolutely NOT what I allow here. My passion is helping anxious dogs rebuild trust and see their time here as a positive and safe experience. I’m constantly furthering my education so I can better educate my clients and help them care for these babies in the best way possible.
After never finding a place I truly felt comfortable boarding my own dogs, I decided to create the kind of place I had always been searching for: a place where dogs are not just watched, but genuinely cared for.
Boarding at Pawnails
Leaving your dog behind should never feel stressful or uncertain. Our boarding experience is designed to feel as close to home as possible while still providing the structure, professionalism, and safety of a licensed, insured facility. Whether you’re going on vacation, your dog just had a procedure and needs to isolate from other dogs, or life is simply busy and you need someone to care for your babies — you should be able to do so peacefully without fear or uncertainty.
Our property was specifically chosen with boarding in mind. There is a home directly on-site, just steps away from the kennel building, allowing us to provide around-the-clock supervision and care. Someone lives on the property at all times, so our boarding dogs are never simply “left overnight” and checked on the next morning.
Your dog is never left alone. We are actively caring for pets throughout all business hours, providing supervision, enrichment, playtime, and individual attention throughout the day. After hours, a trusted caregiver remains on-site overnight so your dog continues to have comfort, presence, and care through the night.
One thing that’s really important to me when it comes to boarding is making sure dogs are genuinely cared for not simply “housed” until pickup day. We believe boarding should be more than rotating dogs outside long enough to use the bathroom before returning them to a kennel all day. Many facilities have strict timers and schedules that only allow dogs a few minutes outside at a time, but that has never been the environment I wanted to create here.
If the weather is safe and your dog enjoys being outdoors, we allow them to truly enjoy their time outside. We carefully pair dogs by size, temperament, and energy level (with owner approval) so they can safely socialize, play, and burn energy throughout the day. We rotate dogs in and out as temperatures rise, provide shaded areas and constant access to fresh water, and prioritize comfort and safety at all times.
Of course, not every dog enjoys group play — and that’s completely okay too. Some dogs prefer quieter environments, one-on-one attention, or simply relaxing indoors, and we tailor their stay around what makes them feel safest and most comfortable. Every dog is different, and we believe their care should reflect that.
Each dog is given their own bed and a warm, cozy place to sleep. We follow calming bedtime routines and create a peaceful environment using soft music and a relaxing fireplace playing on the TVs throughout the day and night. This helps block outside sounds and creates a soothing atmosphere where dogs can fully relax and settle in comfortably.
Another thing that’s incredibly important to me is overnight care and emergency preparedness. I personally would never board my own dogs somewhere that closes for the night, leaves the property empty, and simply hopes nothing happens until the next morning — so that’s not something we do here. Most dogs obviously do not need constant hands-on supervision every second of the night, but emergencies don’t wait until business hours. Fires, flooding, medical emergencies, or power outages can happen at any time, and having someone physically on the property within reach matters.
We have a kennel technician living on-site, surveillance cameras throughout the facility, and a full security system with 24/7 monitoring. Our fire, flood, and power alarms are tied directly into that system so we are immediately notified and first responders are alerted right away if there is ever an issue.
Every decision we’ve made with our boarding setup comes back to one simple question:
“Would I personally feel comfortable leaving my own dogs here overnight?”
If the answer was not yes, we didn’t do it.
Your dogs are not just boarded here. They are cared for with intention, safety, structure, love, and the same level of concern I would expect for my own.
From basic baths to full grooming services, we offer customized grooming designed to keep your dog looking and feeling their best. Our groomers specialize in grooming just about all breeds, especially doodles and poodles, along with general trims, nail care, puppy introductions, senior grooming, and high-anxiety dogs who need extra patience and understanding.
One of the things we are most passionate about is creating a positive, low-stress grooming experience because dogs carry those experiences with them for the rest of their lives. Grooming should never be something a dog fears. Our goal is to build trust, confidence, and comfort during every visit so your dog learns that grooming can be a safe and positive experience.
We understand that many dogs come to us after having difficult experiences elsewhere, and we are willing to go the extra mile for dogs who may be nervous, fearful, reactive, elderly, or simply need more time and patience. We do not believe in forcing dogs past their limits for the sake of speed or appearance. We believe every dog deserves compassion, understanding, and individualized care.
Dogs cannot speak for themselves, so we believe it is our responsibility to advocate for their comfort, safety, and emotional wellbeing throughout the grooming process. Sometimes that means slowing down, taking breaks, creating positive associations, or approaching things differently depending on the dog in front of us. We are always willing to do what is best for the dog — not simply what is fastest or easiest.
Whether your dog needs a simple bath, a full haircut, extra deshedding, puppy introductions, senior accommodations, or help rebuilding trust after negative grooming experiences, our goal is always the same: to provide patient, gentle grooming with the kind of care we would want for our own dogs.
